When Argos first began in 2005 with only 50 cents in the bank, nobody believed that we would ever achieve our goal; to create an animal sanctuary that would provide comfortable living facilities, set in the tranquillity of a forest environment to harbour the sick and injured, the abused and abandoned animals that came our way.
Some thought the idea was too grandiose requiring a great deal of money and would never come together. It has been a hard and uphill struggle these past 2 years trying to raise money for the animal cause in a country that lacks culture in animal welfare and a government that does not promote a pro-animal policy. But those who believed in the worthiness of the cause, continued with unabated breath, raising both money and awareness for this much needed animal shelter. Their sheer will and determination to show the government what must be done and how to do it has finally triumphed. Here are some pictures of the new cat sanctuary:

ARGOS NEW SECURITY FENCE APPEAL
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Before we can commence building work at our new animal sanctuary the whole site needs to be security fenced. Please help us by making a donation. Cheques payable to Argos Animal Rescue & Protection can be sent to the above address or left at our Ayia Napa or Paralimni shops.
Argos is a non-profit making registered charity with all the monies raised going directly to animal rescue & welfare. Our ultimate goal being the creation of a safe haven for neglected, maltreated & injured dogs, cats, donkeys & horses at our future animal sanctuary to be constructed near Dhekelia.
We do not intend to build just cages and concrete. The stray, neglected animals we rescue will already have suffered a harsh life. Once they enter our sanctuary they will receive the love and care they deserve in comfortable surroundings. Our sanctuary will be the first of its kind ever to be built in Cyprus. Dogs will have long exercise runs; cats will have play & activity areas. All animals will have shaded rest areas and comfortable bedding. There will be paddocks & stables for rescued donkeys and horses. The whole site will be planted and landscaped to create an oasis of calm and tranquility. Future plans include an animal hospital and visitor centre which will include an education centre, coffee shop, gift shop and pet shop providing much needed income to run the sanctuary.
Our only regular income is from 2 charity shops in Ayia Napa and Paralimni so we need as much help as we can get. Much of our income is used for animal welfare, vets bills, etc. So we need funding for the sanctuary.
Everyone knows the problems of animal welfare in Cyprus. This is your chance to help. Remember – EVERY EURO COUNTS
THANK YOU
